Bespoke: Mental Health

Mental Health:

Aims: This course is designed to provide the learners with a better understanding of the most common types of mental health conditions that exist. The course can also be bespoke to a particular mental health condition or a range of mental health conditions. Learners will be required to complete a range of activities during the session.

Mental Capacity Act 2005 and DOLS:

Aims: to provide an overview of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and the implications they have for the service user and service provider.

Objectives: the learner will be able to:

 

❖  Define “capacity” and explain the key principles of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards

❖  Describe how these may be relevant to your service users and how they may impact on your own practice

❖  Provide a basic description of the assessment process required for assessing both mental capacity and the authorisation for deprivation of liberty

❖  Describe the supporting framework and roles of others specific to these
