
End of Life Essentials (Half Day)
Aims: to identify, understand and develop the essential skills in caring for a dying resident and their family.
Objectives:
❖ Discuss potential wishes at this stage and understand Advanced Care Planning
❖ Demonstrate knowledge of the support health care standards and legislation
❖ Identify a resident entering the last stages of life
❖ Demonstrate knowledge of symptom management and pain assessments
❖ Provide individualised care plan for EoL care
❖ Develop understanding for implementation, monitoring and evaluating care plans
❖ Provide care and support for relatives
❖ Provide sensitive and appropriate after death care for the resident and their family.
Advanced End of Life Care (1 Day)
Aims: to identify, understand and develop the advanced skills in caring for a dying resident and their family.
Objectives:
❖ Discuss potential wishes at this stage and understand Advanced Care Planning (ACP).
❖ Analyse different ACP types and interpret how they may apply in practice.
❖ Develop further knowledge of the support health care standards and legislation in End of Life (EoL).
❖ Identify a resident entering the last stages of life
❖ Develop knowledge of symptom management and pain assessments
❖ Examine holistic methods of caring in regards to the stages of anticipatory grief.
❖ Provide an individualised care plan for EoL care
❖ Develop understanding for implementation, monitoring and evaluating care plans
❖ Provide care and support for relatives before and after death.
❖ Provide sensitive and appropriate after death care for the resident and their family.
